Bridgestone secure MotoGP deal

Bridgestone will be the sole tyre supplier in MotoGP next season after being awarded a three-year contract.

Bridgestone has been awarded the contract after French rivals Michelin decided not to bid.

The FIM, motorcycle sport's governing body, has adopted a single tyre rule to its grand prix regulations for the MotoGP class in a bid to make competition between riders more even.

Italian Valentino Rossi, who recently regained the MotoGP title, insisted on using Bridgestone tyres on his Fiat Yamaha this season after problems with Michelin.

Rossi's team-mate Jorge Lorenzo is using Michelin tyres this season.
