Doornbos signs for AC Milan
Former Formula One driver Robert Doornbos has signed to drive for AC Milan in the new Superleague Formula due to begin later this year.
The six-race series gets under way at Donington Park at the end of August featuring 20 750-horsepower, V12 cars liveried in the colours of football teams from around the world.
A number of teams have already signed up, including Rangers, with organisers due to shortly confirm a Barclays Premier League club.
Doornbos, who drove for Minardi in 2005 and in three grands prix for Red Bull Racing in 2006, becomes the first high-profile driver to sign for a team.
The 25-year-old Dutchman, who won the rookie-of-the-year title in Champ Car last year after winning three races, said: "I've always been a huge AC Milan fan."
