Rolfo ready for opener

Roberto Rolfo looks set race at the World Superbike Championship after discovering he does not need immediate surgery.

Rolfo dislocated his right shoulder after falling from his CBR during the pre-season test at Portimao in Portugal and has been told he will only need regular treatment and therapy to strengthen the shoulder muscles.

He will need surgery at the end of the season.

Rolfo said: "My mood is a lot more upbeat now that Prof. Porcellini has had a look at my injury in Forli. He said to me that my shoulder is not that bad and with the right treatment I can rider a bike, maybe with the help of some protection.

"We've already planned a schedule, and during race weekends I'm be able to continue with the help of the Clinica Mobile.

"I feel sure everything will be okay in Australia."

Former Kawasaki MotoGP rider John Hopkins has been tipped to replace Rolfo if he needs surgery before the end of the season.
