Haga's double delight

Haga's double delight

Nori Haga stretched his lead in the FIM Superbike World Championship to 85 points with a double race win.

Haga led home Ducati Xerox team-mate Michel Fabrizio in both races as the Italian moved up to second in the championship points standings.

Fabrizio took over second post from Ben Spies as the Yamaha World Superbike rider was third in race one but failed to finish second time out.

Haga won race one after he pulled clear of team-mate Fabrizio and Spies.

The Japanese rider had been put in the shade by the other two riders before race day but he dominated when it mattered.

From half distance Haga took control of the race and was able to head a Ducati one-two as Fabrizio claimed second spot.

Spies saw his chances of finishing in the first two ended when he made a mistake as his foot slipped off the foot rest so he had to settle for third.

Jonathan Rea (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) and Max Biaggi (Aprilia Racing) were involved in a battle for fourth place which went the way of the British rider.

Carlos Checa (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) was sixth with Shinya Nakano (Aprilia), Yukio Kagayama (Suzuki Alstare), Shane Byrne (Sterilgarda Ducati) and Tom Sykes (Yamaha World Superbike) completing the top 10.

Haga took the race two victory as Spies' inconsistency again showed as he failed to finish.

Haga led home team-mate Fabrizio as Rea claimed the final podium spot this time around.

Leon Haslam (Stiggy Honda), who had crashed out of race one, fared better this time as he finished fourth.

Biaggi was fifth and Checa sixth, with Nakano, Kagayama, Sykes and Jakub Smrz (Guandarlini Ducati) completing the top 10.
