Question & Answer with Georgina Chang

Q: How did you come to be in your current position in your broadcasting career?

GC: I was asked to audition for Star Sports by hosting the World Beach Volley Championship in Bali. It was one of the most enjoyable auditions in my life.

Q: Is reporting on sport the next best thing to playing it? And what was the pinnacle you reached in your favourite sport?

GC: I have to admit, my tennis and 9-ball skills are dismal. I was a gymnast in the school team, and was ‘Catcher” for my school softball team where we won the bronze medal. Since then, my most exhaustive sporting effort is reaching for the remote control.

Q: What is your favourite sport outside of the one you are best known for? And how do you relax when you are not working?

GC: The unpredictability of F1 is cool. You never know what’s going to happen on the track, and I’m riveted by the stories that go on outside of raceday. To de-stress, I love cooking, baking, gardening and traveling.

Q: Who is the most memorable individual you have met during your playing or working life?

GC: Roger Federer. He has an aura that makes people stop what they’re doing when he walks into the room. At the height of his dominance, he is kind, patient and sincere. A true gentleman in every sense.

    Q: Do you/did you have a nickname?

GC: Some friends call me Georgi, others call me “oooi”

Q: Tell us something we may not know about you..

GC: I like to eat copious amounts of dark chocolate everyday.
