British team named for Glasgow
As expected there is no place for Dwain Chambers in the British team at the Aviva International next weekend.
Chambers cannot compete at the Kelvin Hall indoor event as it falls under the umbrella of a Euro Meetings Group event.
The consortium last year passed a ruling which prevents athletes who have served a two-year drugs ban from its competitions, thereby ruling out Chambers after his positive test for the anabolic steroid THG in August 2003.
After serving his ban Chambers returned to competition before an unsuccessful attempt to carve out a career in American football.
He then returned to the track again and shared the 60 metres silver medal at the World Indoors last year after UK Athletics (UKA) reluctantly selected him for the team.
Although UKA have confirmed his eligibility for the European Indoor Championships in Turin in March, where he will be favourite to win the 60m title, he will not be competing in Glasgow.
Instead the 30-year-old Londoner plans to chase the European qualifying time at the Birmingham Games on the same day.
Chambers appearance at the National Indoor Arena will definitely deflect interest from the Glasgow event, even though 12 athletes who represented Team GB at the Beijing Olympics will compete.
