The birth of a new champion
Singapore fans will have the honour of witnessing the birth of a new WBA (PABA) Super Bantamweight champion come Saturday night at the Suntec Convention hall.
Kelvin Leong from Singapore
With holder Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym now the WBA Super Bantamweight champion, the WBA (PABA) Super Bantamweight belt is up for grabs.
Leon Moore who is ranked World No.6 in the world and Asia's No.1 boxer from Indonesia, Marangin Marbun will step into the ring and slug it out for 12 rounds to decide who will be the new champion.
Moore who is undefeated (25-2-0 22KO) and possibly one step away from a world title fight will be up against Chris John's former sparring partner, Marbun who is an experience boxer at the age of 24 with 26 fights (19-6-1 7KO) to his name.
Both fighters were in confident mood at the press conference held at the Conrad Centennial hotel in Singapore on Thursday.
Moore was the first to have a go when he declared: "I am very confident of myself. Always am and always will be. I just want to say that this is a great opportunity for me. Top Rated Boxing's motto is to be the best and that is what I am aiming to be. No.1"
"I'm looking forward to Saturday night - Marbun is a good boxer and I know that we will put on a good fight for the people of Singapore.
"While entertaining my fans is important to me, my priority is winning and there is no way I'm leaving Singapore without the title.
"The most entertaining thing the crowd will see on Saturday at Suntec will be me knocking Marbun out!"
Marbun did not back down from Moore as he retorted: "I am confident of the fight. I have sparred with names like Chris John and Daud Yordan so I am prepared. With a bit of luck, I will win the fight and the title this Saturday."
While the two stars bask in the limelight, fans will have another five cards to watch with four undefeated boxers stepping into the ring with the likes of Thailand's explosive lightweight, Saddam Kietyongyuth and Ariel Barotillo who is the younger brother of Arnold Barotillo who fought Manny Pacquiao in 2000.
Petchjai Nidafactory (THA) will start the night against Sugiri (INA) before Barotillo steps into the ring with Xu Cong Liang (CHN).
Singaporeans will be able to cheer on their compatriot, Mohamad Nor Rizan who will take on China's Mao Yi Jun in the third matchup while Kietyongyuth takes on Korea's Choi Jong-Yoon.
Ariel Delgado (PHI) will round things up against Uema Zaragoza of Japan before Moore and Marbun climb into the ring for the showstopper.
The fighters are ready and the stage is set. The only thing which remains is who will be raising their arms in victory and who will be left dazed on the mat come Saturday night.
Ring the bell and let the punching begin. Its show time!
