ABL Playoffs: “I would love to return”

Kyle Jeffers was disappointed with the Singapore Slingers’ defeat to Satria Muda, and hopes to stay and improve with the team next season.

The Slingers lost to Satria Muda 86-76 in Game 3 of their ASEAN Basketball League first round semi-final series, a game where Jeffers had a monster game, scoring 19 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. However, the center was more concerned by the final score and not his stats.

"We didn't win, we're not moving forward," Jeffers told ESPNSTAR.com after the game. "Just turned the ball over too much."

"We had problems attacking the middle of the zone, in getting good looks."

Jeffers cited poor shooting, resulting in the visitors' defence being able to sag and clog the paint.

"I think our execution was fairly good, but we didn't shoot the ball particularly well," the Slingers center added. "So, when we can't shoot the ball well, it's hard to get the ball into the paint."

"I say Miller played well in the second half," Jeffers said, referring to Satria Muda's flamboyant center Nakiea Miller. "They were good shooting from three-point range."

Jeffers did admit he did not know if he would return for next season, but the Slingers' paint enforcer would love to play another year in Singapore.

"I've got to get better. I'm not sure what is going to happen. My future is undecided," said Jeffers. "All I can do is to keep working on my game. Hopefully I can land a job, whether it's here or another country, but I would love to return. It's a great place to play."

"I've got to work on a few things to have a better next season. My numbers this season were good, sure, but I could have done a lot better," concluded the Slingers' bigman.
