Netball: India finish fourth

India settled for fourth position in the 7th Asian Youth Netball Championship after losing their play-off match 38-56 to Singapore at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex, New delhi.

Singapore by virtue of win secured a creditable third position.

After losing first two games, Indian eves tried to comeback by winning the third game but their opponents were up to the mark and pocketed the fourth game to seal the match in their favour.

Malaysia and Sri Lanka will now clash in the final of the tournament.

Indian coach Lourdes Jayasekara said the side lacked consistency but was happy with overall show of the players.

"We started well but the centre got injured. We lacked continuity which is most important. There is a lot of talent in the country and we need to capitalise on that," the coach said.

"We played well initially, but could not perform well in the second quarter. We got nervous at the end but we didn't give up," said Indian player Neha Bajaj.

Singapore Captain Anna Soo praised her side for bouncing back in style.

"We learnt from our mistakes yesterday (against Sri Lanka). The team has performed well. All the players were ready for match," she said.
