Dhoni declared fit for Kanpur Test

Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been declared fit for the second Test against Sri Lanka in Kanpur to be played from Tuesday.

Dinesh Karthik, who had been flown in as a replacement for Dhoni will now head back to Dharmasala to lead Tamil Nadu in their Ranji Trophy Super League match against Himachal Pradesh from tomorrow.

Dhoni had hurt his finger during the first Test at Ahmedabad which ended in a tame draw last Friday.

However, his injury was not deemed to be very serious as the skipper batted and even rolled his arms at the nets during India's practice session on Sunday.

Dhoni today said that his injury has healed and accordingly Karthik was relieved to lead Tamil Nadu in their Ranji Trophy Super League match against Himachal Pradesh in Dharmasala tomorrow.

"Yes, Dinesh was called in because I was having some problems. But now he, along with a few others, would go back to play Ranji," Dhoni said.

The right-handed Karthik last represented India in a Test against New Zealand in Napier in March this year.
