Brisbane Roar have accepted Charlie Miller's request to release the midfielder from his contract with immediate effect.
The 33-year-old former Rangers star asked to terminate his contract early in order to find a new club as coach Ange Postecoglou could not offer sufficient reassurances over his Brisbane future next season.
"We're currently in the process of evaluating our squad for next season and at this point Charlie wasn't guaranteed a place in the squad," Postecoglou said.
"Charlie and I discussed the matter and while we'd hoped he would stay until January, he made it clear it was time he moved on to pursue other opportunities.
"We certainly don't want to stand in the way of a professional footballer earning a living and we agreed to his request."
Miller, however, leaves the Queensland outfit on good terms having bagged seven goals in 19 games last season and featured 11 times this term.
"Charlie's impact on this club, particularly last season, cannot be underestimated. He has been a fantastic player and we wish him all the very best for the future," added Postecoglou.
"However, it is now time for us to focus on the long-term future of the club and we will be doing that over the coming months."
