Thiago: I could have joined Inter
Thiago Silva has admitted that he was close to signing for Serie A league leaders Inter Milan while he was still playing for Fluminense.
"It's true, Inter wanted me," he told Tuttosport.
"But things dragged on for too long and nothing came of it. Then Milan came along and I accepted right away."
The centre-back signed for AC Milan in January after the Rossoneri paid Fluminense an alleged transfer fee of €10 million and the Brazilian has become a key contributor in Leonardo's squad.
However, Inter cruised to a 4-0 thrashing of Milan in the first Derby della Madonnina this term and Thiago Silva is keen of exacting revenge on the Nerazzurri when the two bitter rivals clash in January.
He said: "I have an obsession: to defeat Inter so that we erase the memories of that defeat."
