Following his rehabilitation programme in Johannesburg, Zaheer is back in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and if NCA sources are to be believed, the pacer is available for selection.
Gambhir will be sitting out and sources in the selection committee revealed that the selectors thought the left-hander needed some rest to heel his injured right knee.
Gambhir, who sat out the drawn second Test at the SSC, will, however, play the final Test against Sri Lanka.
On master batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who notched up his fifth Test double ton during the SSC Test, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that “Sachin is having stiffness in groin, but he seems fine at the moment. But I can’t tell you if somebody picks up an injury.”
There have been a lot of speculations over Yuvraj Singh’s participation in the upcoming one-day tournament, but the dashing southpaw looks all set to have a go.
