Arsenal stunned by Marchetti price-tag
Arsenal are set to be priced out of a move for goalkeeper Federico Marchetti unless Cagliari drop their £12.5 million valuation.
The 27-year-old came into the limelight after standing in for the injured Gianluigi Buffon during the World Cup with Italy.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believed to be on the hunt for a new number one goalkeeper and had an initial £5.4 million bid for Marchetti turned down by Cagliari.
Despite a transfer request submitted by the stopper, the Italian club have shocked both Arsenal and the player with their demands.
Should Cagliari remain resolute on their asking price, Wenger will relinquish his pursuit of the Marchetti and settle for Fulham veteran Mark Schwarzer.
