Carla Suarez Navarro needed little more than an hour to beat Emilie Loit in the second round of the Barcelona Open.

The Spaniard won 6-2 7-5 to progress, and joining her in the third round is seventh seed Lucie Safarova, who saw off Italian Sara Errani 6-3 6-3.

Francesca Schiavone also beat Czech Nicole Vaidisova 6-3 6-3, and in the day's other game Tatjana Malek of Germany was 5-0 up in the first set against Stephanie Cohen-Aloro when the Frenchwoman retired.
