Home Min blamed for Oz pull-out

The main opposition party of India, the BJP blamed Home Minister P Chidambaram's for Australia's pull out of the Davis Cup.

The BJP claimed that the shifting of IPL had created an impression that India was no longer a safe destination.

"This is the example of mishandling of internal security by the government. Home Minister Chidambaram is responsible for this because he created the IPL scare by not allowing IPL teams to play in India," senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley aleged.

"We had been consistently telling them that you are setting a precedent and India's image would be similar to that of Pakistan's. Other teams will refuse to come here and it will affect investors, tourists and Commonwealth games," Jaitley told reoprters here.

The BJP leader claimed the government took a "wrong decision (on the issue of holding of IPL in the couontry during elections) and created an impression that India was no longer a safe destination".

On the CBI giving clean chit to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in 1984 Sikh riots case, Jaitley alleged that the agency had given a report which was against Tytler but "the CBI director reversed it".

"There have been allegations that CBI has been misused in the last five years and government should clarify this," he said. He also alleged that seven ministers in the UPA government were "tainted" but the CBI tried to exonerate them.
