For the first time at Wimbledon, an Indian father-and-son duo will be in action in the same year.

When Prakash Amritraj stepped onto the lush green grass courts of the All England Club on Tuesday, history was made. Prakash and daddy Vijay will go down in the record books as the first Indian father-and-son duo to have achieved a striking distinction of featuring at Big W, the same year.

"As always, it is special to have a father-and-son achievement. I always hold family togetherness in high regard. And for this to come at Wimbledon is doubly special," a thrilled Prakash told Mobile ESPN just before his debut match.

A father-and-son act at a Major tennis event is quite a rarity. Prakash made this possible when he qualified for the doubles main draw along with his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi. The senior partner, Vijay will follow suit later during the SW19 fortnight, when he picks up his racquet to play the senior invitational gentlemen's doubles event.

Indian doubles ace, Mahesh Bhupathi told Mobile ESPN from Wimbledon that it was a very special moment for Indian tennis.

"I think it's a special moment for the family. It's very hard to build a tennis player from scratch professionally and for the fact that Vijay is always been a stalwart of Indian tennis and now that Prakash is playing his first Wimbledon, I think it's a very special moment for both Indian tennis and Amritraj family."

Earlier, the Krishnan family ruled the roost with another distinction at the All England Club. ‘Father' Ramanathan Krishnan (1950-1960s) and ‘son' Ramesh (1980s) clinched the Wimbledon boy's titles in 1954 and 1979, respectively.

India's No. 2 player, Prakash started the 2009 season with a career ranking of 206 and has gradually moved up 52 rungs and is positioned at 154 as of June 22, 2009.

There's an impressive Indian representation at the All England Club this year, with four players in men's doubles alone.

Leander Paes, Bhupathi, Prakash and India's numero uno Somdev Devvarman (along with partner Kevin Anderson) will make the nation proud with the four-star effect. Sania Mirza, will be doing the usual stuff in the women's singles and doubles events.

Eleven-time Grand Slam champion, Bhupathi backs the young guns to put up an inspiring show. "It's not easy since it is Wimbledon. But, I am sure the boys will do well."
