Hectic weekend looms for Schnyder
Top seed Patty Schnyder faces a busy weekend if she is to live up to her billing and win the GDF Suez Grand Prix in Budapest.
This was after rain postponed her last eight clash with Alisa Kleybanova.
Schnyder led the Russian 4-3 in the first set when rain stopped play for the day, meaning the pair will have to finish tomorrow prior to the scheduled start of the tournament semi-finals.
Either Schnyder or Kleybanova will face Romania's Edina Gallovits, who kept her nerve to beat Croatian qualifier Petra Martic 6-3 7-6 (8-6).
Local interest was maintained by the progression of fourth seed and local favourite Agnes Szavay, who beat her friend, the qualifier Timea Bacsinszky, 6-2 6-3.
In the last four Szavay will play sixth-seeded Ukrainian Alona Bondarenko, who stepped up the pace in second set to beat in-form Israeli Shahar Peer 7-5 6-1.
