Dinara Safina lost the first set but fought back to win her third WTA Tour title of the season by Sara Errani.

She beat the defending champion 6-7 (7-5) 6-1 7-5 in the final of the Banka Koper Slovenia Open.

The world number one was made to work hard in a match that lasted just shy of three hours in Portoroz.

Errani, who had lost only eight games en route to the final, was not ready to let her title go without a fight, and she won 77% of her first-serve points in a tough battle.
