Peer makes final in China
Fifth seed Shahar Peer advanced to the final of the Guangzhou Open after her opponent Peng Shuai retired due to a wrist injury.
Peer was winning 6-4 1-0 before Peng, who reached the final of this event last year, was unable to continue playing.
That means Peer will contest her first final since 2007 as she looks to secure her fourth career WTA Tour win.
The Israeli will play eighth seed Alberta Brianti in the final after the Italian beat Ayumi Morita of Japan 6-3 7-5.
It is Brianti's first appearance in a final on the WTA Tour with her best previous performance being a semi-final loss to Dinara Safina in Slovenia earlier this year.
