Wozniacki breezes through in Osaka

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki has eased into the second round of the HP Open in Osaka after defeating Ayumi Morita easily.

Wozniacki, who reached the US Open final in September, began the defence of her title with a comfortable 6-4 6-1 win over Japan's Morita.

It was a good day all round for the seeds, with second seed and former Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli beating Galina Voskoboeva 6-3 7-5.

Third seed Samantha Stosur beat Russian Alexandra Panova 6-2 6-4 and sixth seed Aleksandra Wozniak also won in straight sets against qualifier Sophie Ferguson.

There was disappointment for the home crowd as veteran Kimiko Date Krumm, who had received a wild card, lost in three sets to American Jill Craybas.
