Nadal leads Spain charge in Davis Cup

World number two Rafael Nadal will spearhead Spain's bid for a second successive Davis Cup title against the Czech Republic next month.

The 23-year-old was today named in the squad by captain Albert Costa along with Fernando Verdasco, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez.

Nadal has not played for his country since winning two matches in their first-round victory over Serbia in March, while he missed last year's final with knee problems.

Czech captain Jaroslav Navratil confirmed on Friday he will keep faith with the team that beat Croatia in the semi-finals, consisting of Tomas Berdych, Radek Stepanek, Jan Hajek and Lukas Dlouhy

The Czechs are looking for their first Davis Cup title since 1980 but will be the underdogs for the clash on indoor clay, which begins on December 4 at Barcelona's Palau Sant Jordi.
