Bopanna wants to play in Pakistan

Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna has expressed his desire to play in Pakistan.

Bopanna has won three ATP Challenger doubles titles this year with Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.

Bopanna, speaking on a sports show, said he was happy with his partnership with Aisam and they plan to play more events next year.

"I just hope that our partnership plays its role in removing tensions between the two countries," he said.

"I have always wanted to come and play in a tennis tournament in Pakistan and if ever I get an opportunity to do this I will definitely come to Pakistan," he said on phone in a show that featured Aisam.

Bopanna said he enjoyed playing with Aisam and both had a good understanding on court and were good friends.

"We also help each other in improving our game," he said.

Aisam said despite regularly playing on the international circuit he still felt strange to be travelling without a professional manager.

"We in Pakistan still need to do a lot to match the standards of international tennis," he said.
