Davydenko suffers wrist fracture

Nikolay Davydenko is expected to be out of action for at least a month after learning his left wrist is broken.

The Russian pulled out of the Indian Wells ATP tournament on Sunday having already managed to win his opening clash against Latvian Ernests Gulbis in the second round a day earlier.

Davydenko initially suffered the injury last month during his semi-final defeat to Robin Soderling in Rotterdam although at the time it was misdiagnosed and the fracture was only revealed after an MRI scan on Sunday.

The 28-year-old retired from his clash with Michael Berrer at the Dubai Tennis Championships in February before missing Russia's Davis Cup clash with India earlier this month.

World number six Davydenko, who won the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London at the end of last season, made a superb start to 2010 with victory at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open as well as a run to the Australian Open quarter-finals but he's now expected to be in a splint for the next four weeks.

Davydenko was the fifth seed in Indian Wells and was due to face Viktor Troicki in the third round on Monday.
