Cabrera, Ramirez suspended
Pitchers Daniel Cabrera of the Baltimore Orioles and Edwar Ramirez of the New York Yankees have been suspended for separate incidents that occurred during the series between the two clubs this week, Major League Baseball announced Thursday.
Cabrera was suspended for six games and fined an undisclosed amount for throwing a pitch near the head of New York's Alex Rodriguez in the bottom of the eighth inning during Tuesday's game.
The righthander would begin the suspension on Friday, when the Orioles play the Seattle Mariners. If he chooses to appeal, the suspension will be put on hold until the process is complete.
Ramirez received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for throwing a pitch near the head of Baltimore's Kevin Millar in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game. He has appealed the suspension.
