Kubels helps Twins down White Sox

Jason Kubel hit a three-run home run as the Minnesota Twins claimed a 10-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Minnesota trailed 4-0 in the fifth inning but Kubel's blast off Octavio Dotel with two out in the seventh gave the Twins a 7-4 lead.

Jermaine Dye cut the lead with a two-run homer for Chicago in the eighth but the Twins added three more in the bottom half of the inning to move within half a game of the White Sox for the American League Central Division lead.

In another match-up of AL Central sides, Grady Sizemore homered and drove in four runs to help the Cleveland Indians defeat the Detroit Tigers 9-4 for a four-game series split.

Sizemore gave the Indians a 4-1 lead with a three-run shot in the fifth inning - his American League-leading 27th home run of the season.

Sal Fasano added two hits and two RBI for the Indians.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim stretched their AL West lead to 12 and a half games as Torii Hunter and Juan Rivera hit three-run home runs off Andy Pettitte in the third inning in a 12-6 demolition of the New York Yankees.

Vladimir Guerrero added another three-run home run for the Angels, who had 18 hits in the game.

The Texas Rangers lost ground on the Angels after going down 8-5 to the Seattle Mariners.

RA Dickey allowed two runs on six hits and a walk over 7 2/3 innings against his former team while Ichiro Suzuki and Raul Ibanez each had two hits and an RBI for the Mariners, who earned a split of the four-game series.
