Nationals take out Rockies

Washington pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of two third-inning errors by Colorado to notch a 9-4 triumph.

Emilio Bonifacio had three hits, including an RBI triple and Tim Redding (8-6) allowed four runs and six hits with three walks and six strikeouts in five innings of work to earn the win.

Bronson Arroyo pitched six strong innings and helped his own cause with a two-run double to send the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Arroyo (10-8) yielded one run and four hits with two walks and six strikeouts to post his sixth win over his last seven starts.

Matt Cain (7-9) allowed just one run and five hits while walking five and striking out six in six and two-thirds strong innings as the San Francisco Giants claimed a 4-2 defeat of the Atlanta Braves.

Carlos Lee had an RBI and a run scored and Brian Moehler scattered four hits over five innings to help the Houston Astros defeat the Chicago Cubs 2-0 in a rain-shortened game that was called in the eighth inning.

Conor Jackson drove in two runs and Mark Reynolds homered to propel the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 13-7 defeat of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
