Barry Bonds has received an invitation from the San Francisco Giants to a celebration where the club will honor outfielders.

Bonds, baseball's all-time home run king, has not made a public appearance at AT&T Park since he was not re-signed after last season. However, he was invited to take place in Saturday's pregame ceremony.

"We invited all the outfielders who played a certain number of games. He definitely was invited," team vice president for communications Staci Slaughter told the San Francisco Chronicle.

"We would love for him to come. He was definitely a big part of the organization."

Slaughter told the Chronicle that Bonds has yet to respond to the invitation.

Bonds, who led the majors last season with a .480 on-base percentage, has 762 career homers.

Not picked up by any team after he was let go by the Giants, Bonds is facing a federal indictment alleging that he lied when he told a grand jury in 2003 he didn't knowingly use performance-enhancing drugs. A trial is set to begin March 2 in San Francisco.
