Warriors sign Dan Dickau

The Golden State Warriors signed point guard Dan Dickau to undisclosed terms as they look to replace injured starter Monta Ellis.

Dickau, who spent the last one and a half months in Italy with Air Avellino before mutually agreeing with the club to terminate his contract, has spent six years in the NBA since being drafted 28th overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2002.

He has been traded eight times and played for six different NBA teams, most recently with the Los Angeles Clippers last season.

The 30-year-old Gonzaga product played in 67 games for the Clippers, including eight starts, averaging 5.3 points and 2.6 assists per game.

His best season was in 2004/05, which he spent primarily with the New Orleans Hornets after an early season trade from the Dallas Mavericks. He started 46 of 71 games, averaging a career-high 12.5 points and 4.9 assists per contest.

The Warriors are looking for answers at the point guard spot after losing Baron Davis to free agency during the off-season to make way for Ellis, who will miss at least the first three months of the season with a torn ankle ligament he suffered in August in moped accident.

The 22-year-old guard signed a six-year, $67 million contract this summer.

The Warriors also have former first-round pick Marcus Williams, who they acquired in July from the New Jersey Nets.
