Pacers looking to trade G Tinsley
Point guard Jamaal Tinsley could be traded to the Denver Nuggets early next week, according to The Indianapolis Star.
Citing a source close to the situation, the newspaper reported Saturday that there is a "strong possibility" that Tinsley could be dealt to the Nuggets as early as Monday.
Additionally, a second person told the Star that trade discussions are ongoing and that the Pacers will look for another team to deal with if the Denver trade falls through.
According to the newspaper, the proposed deal would send point guard Chucky Atkins - who is out until at least next month following knee surgery - and center Steven Hunter to the Pacers.
Both Nuggets coach George Karl and team vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien have dismissed reports of a potential trade involving the embattled point guard, who averaged 11.9 points and 8.4 assists in 39 games last season.
A member of the Pacers since 2001, Tinsley's past three seasons in Indiana have been tumultuous. He has missed time with injuries and had several off-court issues, including a situation last December when he and several cohorts were targeted in a shooting that wounded one person outside an Indianapolis hotel.
