Pierce injury not as serious as feared
The prognosis of Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce's knee injury looks good as it is not as serious as initially feared.
The veteran All-Star was injured in the closing seconds of Monday's 100-91 victory over Utah, when Jazz center Mehmet Okur fell backward and landed awkwardly on Pierce's left leg.
Pierce stayed on the floor for several moments before limping off and being helped to the locker room, but did not seem overly concerned about the injury following the game.
"(It's a) little tender," he said. "The knee kind of buckled, I should be all right. I iced it in the back and I'm able to put weight on it so it should be all right."
Pierce, who along with Ray Allen is leading the Celtics in scoring at 18.6 points per game, is considered probable for Wednesday's game at Atlanta.
Boston, which owns the best record in the league at 23-2, has won 15 straight games.
