The Los Angeles Lakers came storming back from a 14-point deficit at half-time in Chicago to beat the Bulls 117-109.

Kobe Bryant scored 28 points and Pau Gasol poured in 23 more while pulling down 10 rebounds to help the Lakers to their fifth victory in six games.

Trevor Ariza scored 18 points, Lamar Odom added 16 and Jordan Farmar had eight of his 13 in the decisive run.

Elsewhere Jason Richardson scored 17 of his season-high 35 points in the third quarter as the Phoenix Suns extended their winning streak to a season-high four games with a 128-96 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Shaquille O'Neal scored 13 to pass Moses Malone as the number five scorer in NBA history with 27,411 points. He also finished with 10 rebounds.

Steve Nash added 17 points for the Suns.

The Cleveland Cavaliers rolled to their eighth straight win, ending the Atlanta Hawks' winning streak in the process with a 102-96 victory.

Mo Williams scored 24 points and LeBron James added 22 as the Cavaliers went on a 12-0 run late in the first quarter to build a 23-9 lead, which grew to 40-16 early in the second.

Meanwhile the Boston Celtics won for the third time in a row with a 105-87 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. Glen Davis scored 24 points, Ray Allen added 20 points and six assists, while Eddie House contributed 15 points.

The Orlando Magic threatened to blow a 15-point lead before holding off the New York Knicks 110-103. Rashard Lewis scored 27 points, Hedo Turkoglu added 20, Rafer Alston had 17 points, and Dwight Howard battled foul trouble to score 15 for the Magic, who have won nine of their last 11 games.

Quentin Richardson scored 33 points, and Nate Robinson added 27 for New York who have lost four straight games.

Finally Brandon Roy scored 30 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 96-84 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, while Jarrett Jack scored 31 points just one night after getting benched following a dispute with a team-mate as the Indiana Pacers thrashed the Charlotte Bobcats 108-83 to end a five-game losing streak.
