Kobe may opt out for big pay day

Sources from Los Angeles claim that Kobe Bryant could opt out of his contract and become a free agent next month.

It is possible that Bryant may leave the Lakers for another team, though it is highly unlikely that it will happen.

The Lakers' long term plans to contend for the NBA title will affect his decision, according to anonymous sources interviewed by the Los Angeles Times.

The report claimed that a new deal of five years and $135 million is in the works.

The Black Mamba is not eligible for a full extension due to the Over-36 rule. The cutoff date is October 1st and Bryant's birthday is August 23rd, meaning Bryant could potentially miss out on more than $30 million by just under 40 days.
