Atlanta Hornets sting the Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks' seven-game winning streak was brought to an end as they lost 96-88 to the New Orleans Hornets.

First-round pick Darren Collison led the way with game highs in points (22) and assists (11).

It completed an impressive double for the Hornets, who beat the Western Conference-leading Phoenix Suns in their last outing.

The Milwaukee Bucks moved to within a game and a half of the Hawks with a 103-98 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, their third victory in a row.

The Bucks also had a rookie to thank in Brandon Jennings, who had 26 points to help end the Grizzlies' three-game winning streak.

The Denver Nuggets remained perfect at home with a 112-93 win over the Chicago Bulls.

NBA leading scorer Carmelo Anthony again led the way with 30 points.

LeBron James registered 32 points, nine assists and seven rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 97-91.

The Utah Jazz won their fourth straight game, 100-97 over the Detroit Pistons after overtime, on the back of 22 points from Carlos Boozer.

The New Jersey Nets remained without a win after they lost 98-91 to the New York Knicks. They have lost 13 straight games at the start of the season - four off the current record.

Elsewhere, the Houston Rockets were 113-106 winners against the Sacramento Kings and the San Antonio Spurs beat the Washington Wizards 106-84, while the Minnesota Timberwolves suffered their 12th straight loss, 106-78 against the Portland Trail Blazers.
