Bryant wins it for Lakers

Kobe Bryant continued his sizzling form with an overtime buzzer-beater to seal a 107-106 win for the LA Lakers at Milwaukee Bucks.

The four-time NBA champion had recorded a season-high 42 points against Chicago the previous day and continued his hot streak with a further 39 against the Bucks, all despite a splint on his broken right index finger.

He had the chance to win the match with a clutch shot at the end of regulation but made no mistake with a 15-footer right at the end of the first period of overtime.

The result maintained their early dominance of this season's Western Conference, taking them to 20-4 for the campaign.

The Dallas Mavericks took their winning streak to five in a 100-86 road success at the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Star German forward Dirk Nowitzki was the Mavs' leader as usual with 35 points and 11 rebounds as they outscored their hosts by 11 points in the final quarter.

They also gained ground on Texan rivals the Houston Rockets in the South-West Division as they lost 111-101 to North-West leaders the Denver Nuggets, who were led by Carmelo Anthony's 38 points.

Another Texas team, the San Antonio Spurs, moved to 13-10 for the season with a 103-91 win at the Golden State Warriors aided by a 27-point, 15-rebound double-double from Tim Duncan.

The Orlando Magic held on to top spot in the South-East Division as Dwight Howard scored 18 points and claimed 14 rebounds in a 118-99 win at home to the Toronto Raptors.

The Florida side's closest challengers the Atlanta Hawks won their fifth-straight game, 110-97 at home to the Memphis Grizzlies. Guard Joe Johnson led the way for Atlanta with 26 points.

The Cleveland Cavaliers remain well clear of the pack in the Central Division and took their winning streak to four in a 108-101 success at the Philadelphia 76ers thanks to 36 points from star man Lebron James.

The Indiana Pacers edged past the Charlotte Bobcats 101-98 and the Utah Jazz heaped more misery on the New Jersey Nets with a 108-92 win in the Garden State that left the hosts with just two victories from 26.

The Los Angeles Clippers thrashed the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-95, the Sacramento Kings won 112-109 at home to the Washington Wizards while the New Orleans Hornets were 95-87 home victors against the Detroit Pistons on the back of 32 points and 12 rebounds from David West.
