Bengals to release Johnson - Agent

The Cincinnati Bengals are set to release former Pro Bowl running back Rudi Johnson, according to his agent.

In a report on the Bengals' official website Johnson's agent, Peter Schaffer, said the player will be among those let loose when head coach Marvin Lewis announces his roster cuts later on Saturday afternoon.

Johnson, a Pro Bowl selection in 2004 and three-time 1,000-yard rusher, suffered through an inconsistent and injury-riddled 2007 campaign and did not play in the Bengals' pre-season finale on Thursday night against the Indianapolis Colts.

He said after the game that he expected to get cut.
