49ers edge Bears in ugly fashion
Mike Singletary got the victory over his former team but he cannot have felt much satisfaction in their performance.
The San Francisco 49ers edged the Chicago Bears 10-6 to end a four-game losing streak.
Frank Gore ran for 104 yards and the sole touchdown in a game that was marked by five interceptions thrown by Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler.
It was not until the last of those interceptions, when Cutler was picked off by Michael Lewis in the end zone as time expired, that San Francisco was sure of the win.
San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith limited his interceptions to just one, but managed only 118 yards as both teams struggled on offence.
