
Chargers march forward
Denver's defeat sees them draw level at the top with the San Diego Chargers,following a victory over the Eagles.
It was San Diego's fourth win in a row, the Chargers' star running back LaDainian Tomlinson rushing 96 yards and scoring two touchdowns. The Eagles slipped to 5-4 despite the bets efforts of quarterback Donovan McNabb, who passed for 450 yards and threw two touchdown passes.
The Eagles, though, did not lose any ground on the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys, who lost 17-7 at the Green Bay Packers.
The defences had ruled the roost over the first three quarters, with the Packers taking a 3-0 lead into the final period.
Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers ignited the game less than two minutes into the fourth quarter, rushing one yard for a touchdown and then three minutes later throwing a touchdown pass to rookie tight end Spencer Havner.
The Packers defence continued to deny the Cowboys when Charles Woodson intChrercepted a Tony Romo pass in the end zone but the shutout escaped them with less than a minute left on the clock as the Dallas quarterback finally connected with a wide receiver, Roy Williams catching.
In other games, the Arizona Cardinals improved to 6-3 with a home win over NFC West rivals Seattle. The Cardinals defeated the Seahawks 32-20 to move to 3-6 while at the foot of AFC West the Kansas City Chiefs gained just their second win of the campaign with a 16-10 defeat of the Raiders in Oakland.
The Chiefs are now level with Oakland on 2-7.
