Marshall suspended for three games

The NFL on Tuesday suspended Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall for the first three games of the regular season for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

Commissioner Roger Goodell will consider reducing the penalty to two games if Marshall complies with required counseling and other conditions of the suspension.

In the past year, Marshall has been arrested three times, including a domestic violence warrant filed by his former girlfriend in Atlanta on March 6. He is due in court in September for a trial on a drunk driving arrest in October.

Marshall, who is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games, led the Broncos last season with 102 receptions, 1,325 receiving yards and seven touchdown catches.

During the offseason, Marshall suffered a freak injury when he said he slipped and put his arm through a television screen, severing arteries and tendons that caused him to miss the majority of the team's voluntary workouts.
