Report: Forsberg wants Avalanche return
Peter Forsberg is apparently not ready to hang up the skates.
According to the Denver Post, Forsberg is planning to return to the NHL this season and would prefer to don a Colorado Avalanche jersey.
Forsberg, who is recovering from surgery on his right foot, reportedly made some of his intentions clear on the Swedish TV program "Hockeynight" this week.
"I want to play. I hate sitting in the stands and not be able to be out there on the ice," Forsberg said. "If it doesn't work this time, I'll call it quits. I'm still hopeful."
It is a similar scenario to last season for Forsberg, who played just nine games for the Avalanche after contemplating retirement for most of the campaign. He did play well, though, notching a goal and 13 assists.
However, it would be a much different situation for Colorado, which is far from guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. If Forsberg does decide to return to the ice, he will probably want to play for a team that a has a chance to win the Stanley Cup.
A two-time Stanley Cup champion, Forsberg has tallied 249 goals and 885 points over 12 seasons with the Avalanche-Nordiques franchise, Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators.
