Report: Sabres LW Gerbe sidelined
Buffalo Sabres rookie left wing Nathan Gerbe could miss up to seven games with an upper-body injury, according to a published report in the Buffalo News on Tuesday.
Gerbe was hit by New Jersey captain Jamie Langenbrunner in the Sabres' 4-2 victory over the Devils on Saturday and failed to finish the game.
"He's got an upper-body injury and he's going to miss somewhere from 10 days to two weeks, stemming from the hit the other night," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff told the newspaper. "He was examined again (Tuesday morning) before practice, and we're just a little concerned with how he reacted after (Monday's) skate. The doctors found something and decided to keep him out."
A former Boston College standout and Hobey Baker Award finalist in 2007-08, Gerbe has one assist in five games this season. The 21-year-old was selected 142nd overall by Buffalo in 2005.
