
Blackhawks down Oilers
The Chicago Blackhawks thrashed the Edmonton Oilers 9-2 in a five-goal second period as Troy Brouwer scored twice.
Ben Eager, rookie Kris Versteeg and defenseman Brian Campbell joined Brouwer in scoring goals in the second. Colin Fraser and defenseman Duncan Keith each had a goal and an assist, while Craig Adams also netted for the Blackhawks, who extended their season-best winning streak to five games.
Captain Mike Richards and Simon Gagne each recorded a goal and two assists as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 for their fifth straight victory.
Mike Knuble scored a goal and set up another and Joffrey Lupul also netted for Philadelphia, who improved to 13-1-3 in their last 17 games.
