Hurricanes blow away Wild

The Carolina Hurricanes finally recorded their first win of the season at the expense of Minnesota Wild.

Carolina had led 3-0 and 4-1 but could not hold on in regulation as Minnesota forced an extra period.

Jussi Jokinen then got the goal that prevented Carolina breaking the franchise record they had tied in 14 games without a win.

The record was set when the franchise was based in Hartford in 1992.

Brent Seabrook's goal 41 seconds into overtime lifted the Chicago Blackhawks to a 4-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

Dany Heatley had earlier scored his 14th goal of the season of the Sharks, tying him for the NHL lead, but they could not stop the Blackhawks recording their seven straight home win.

Slava Kozlov's third-period goal lifted the Atlanta Thrashers to a 3-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
