New Jersey Devils down Penguins

The New Jersey Devils beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 to move to within two games of the Stanley Cup champions in the Atlantic Division.

Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and two assists and Martin Brodeur made 33 saves as the Devils posted their fifth straight victory over Pittsburgh.

The Tampa Bay Lightning got two quick goals as they topped the NHL-leading Washington Capitals 3-2 for only their second win in nine games.

Matt Walker got one and then set up another moments later as his shot deflected in off Vincent Lecavalier.

Jerret Stoll scored in the sixth round of the shootout as the Los Angeles Kings beat the Dallas Stars 2-1.

Stoll's wrist shot gave the Kings their fifth win out of five against Dallas this season.

Josh Harding's 43 saves helped the Minnesota Wild hold off the Buffalo Sabres for a 3-2 win, snapping a four-game winless streak.

Two goals in less than a minute from Vinny Prospal and Marian Gaborik set up the New York Rangers for a 5-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Shea Weber got the only goal on a powerplay as the Nashville Predators boosted their playoff push with a 1-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
